Lordshill came into Eastleigh's back yard after a home defeat to
Highfield 2 weeks. Jose Wiseman was concerned over the lack of shooting and goals from the team.
Jose set the side up with a formation to score: Rike, Ash(C), Ryan, Biggsy, Doc, Dale, Chancey, Danny, Ian, Luis, John and Rob on the bench after going on his hols.
The team were told to shoot on sight and get numbers in the box as
often and as quickly as they could.
Lordshill started well but were a little dis-organised at the back and Eastleigh were trying to take advantage of that with constant bombs over the top.
Dale for once was holding his position in the middle, after Chancey had finallly managed to put a leash on him. John was working his socks off at front, he had to though as Luis was the other striker and we knowLuis wont do to much running at his advanced age (49).
Lordshill started to use the ball well through the team and got
themselfs a penalty after 25 minutes. With Ross nursing a poorley
bottom and rested, Chancey stepped up to slot the ball home, although the Eastleigh keeper made a fine effort to get a hand to it.
Lorsdhill appeared to be in complete control until the usual mistake that happens at least once every game. Long ball over the top, complete confusion from the back line and Riki building sand castles in the goal mouth and getting caught in no mans land. The Estleigh forward finished well over Riki into the roof of the net.
The teams went in at half time 1 -1.
Eastleigh came out to start the second half early, keen to get at
Lordshill. Eastleigh did start the second half with alot more zip about them and seemed to be playing a 4 3 3, they were playing to beat us.
Lordshill's possesion and passing game was working wonders and they
were stretching Eastleigh all over the pitch.
Lordshill were winning lots of corners. Ian crossed a fine ball in, the Eastleigh keeper came to punch, only for Chancey to get there before any Eastleigh players and loop it over the keepers head 2 - 1 Lordshill.
Lordshill were playing quickly and playing well. The chances were
coming and so were the corners. It was another corner by Ian, into the heart of the Estleigh box, headed back across goal, for Danny to follow the flight of the ball with a bullet header (or was it a girls header) into the Eastleigh goal. 3 - 1 Lordshill.
Jose's goal plan had worked. It was now time to revert to a more
traditional formation and see the game out.
The tactical change by Jose worked a treat. The team looked solid and balanced and continued to dominate. Rob had come on up front after his break for his hols, he was playing like he had never been away. Causing all sorts of problems for the Eastleigh defence and getting many shots off. 2 off which were definately goal bound but some last ditch defending by Eastleigh deflected them wide.
Luis picked up the ball some 30 yards out, swearved his old hips, went round 1 defender, showed the keeper a dummy and slotted it home in style. 4 - 1 Lordshill.
Crusie control time and you could tell the lads were enjoying the game.
Chancey picked up the ball in his own half, went past one defender,
went past 2 (Maradona style), carried the ball into the box, took it
around the keeper, hatrick hero time surely - ooops, he selected the wrong club from the bag and pitched the ball over the bar. He had
scored two by this point so i wont labour the miss to much.
The game finished 4 - 1 to Lordshill. A fine performance, a fine win, so refreshing to see so many shots at goal -although Dale is officially banned from ever shooting again.
Great team effort, great result.
So here it was. The visit of the Champions to the our manor. The expectations were high after such a great result against Community.
The game kicked off at 1030hrs and both teams started well. As is traditional both teams were committed in the challenge and wanted to take the game to each other. No team had the better the of the early exchanges.
Highfiled looked dangerous on the break and Lordshill were great progress down the left with Golding and Biggsy linking up brilliantly.
The first cross come shot came from Golding sailing one just over the Highfield bar.
The tackles were starting to fly in and Chancey got caught by one in the middle of the park, after a proper hostipal pass from Dale - Im sure Chancey appreciated that one.
Lordshill were passing the ball well with Jon holding the ball up and using the channels well up front. No - one really saw Luis in the first half.
The first half did not really create much else for either team. It was clear that both teams were strong and enjoying the challenge. Honours even at half time 0 - 0.
The second half kicked off and Highfiled started the better with soe early pressure on the Lordshill defence who were standng strong with Ryan and Ross marshalling things together for the first time.
After the very early pressure it was all Lordshill in the second half. Golding had another two chances, sending both wide. Luis had a half cahnce, only managing to hit a pigeon in the tree behind the goal. Lordshill were defending well and using the ball well, that is until they got to the last third - then they jsut wanted to give it back to Highfield. Lordshill were putting so much pressure on Highfield, at one point, Ray Mears set up camp in the Highfield last third to enjoy the action.
However, Lordshill were sloppy/lazy in possession at times going forward and this led to them being left exsposed at the back. Riki saving a one on one 15 minutes from the end was the first warning.
Lordshill still pressed forward in numbers. Again they got sloppy as Harris was tackled by the Highfield goal keeper, who turned him like a kipper, dribbles out his box, launched it forward for Ryan to knock the ball out for a corner to Highfield. Only there second corner of the half. 4 Minutes left on the clock. Sure enough, Lordshill forgot they are actually meant to mark, stay with and jump with there opposing players and a Highfield player rose and headed home from 5 yrds. The game finished 1 - 0 to Highfield.
Lordshill have conceeded two goals in the league this year. Both from a cross where players have not picked up and jumped with the player - when will they learn.
Having said all this everyone there today knew that Highfield really did get away with it. Lordshill dominated the second half with no reward - What can Jose Wiseman do to find some goals in the team.
